It’s Veterans Day in Bossier Parish. A highlight of the day’s activity will be the dedication of the Louisiana Women Veterans monument at 10 a.m. at the Bossier Civic Center.
It’s the first monument in the southern United States honoring women veterans and service members from all five military services.
The monument has been three years in the making and the dedication ceremony will be a tribute to all veterans and will culminate with the unveiling of the monument.
The monument is an original bronze work of art depicting a woman service member in battle dress uniform. She stands on a granite pedestal and a granite base displaying the five military service seals. You are invited to join the event and celebrate veterans and their service to our country.
Later today, the South Bossier Lunch group will be meeting from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bellaire South Complex at 4330 Panther Drive Bossier City, in the upstairs Conference Area.
The special guest speaker at this special Veterans Day Luncheon will be retired Chief Master Sgt. Paul LaFlame. Chief Master Sgt. LaFlame is the co-owner of Buds Trophy Case, the largest awards-related business in the Ark-La-Tex and has been in business since July 1998.
Many businesses in the area are mounting special offers for Veterans today.
